New Survey on US Consumer Views on Technology in Animal Agriculture

A recent survey by nonpartisan polling firm Positive Sum Strategies asked Americans for their views on technology in animal agriculture. Innovate Animal Ag analyzed this data, and pulled out the key insights for business leaders and policy makers. Our full report can be found here.

We found that Americans fundamentally want practical solutions to the challenges they see in animal health and welfare, and leaning into cutting-edge, science-backed technologies is often viewed as the most sensible way to solve these challenges. And as long as consumers are educated on why technologies are used, they will gladly support companies and policymakers that use technology to improve animal welfare.

In our report, we identify and discuss four key themes:

  • Farm animal welfare is a popular, bipartisan issue

  • Americans favor technological solutions to animal welfare challenges, not vegetarianism

  • Americans favor technology in animal agriculture if they understand the problem it solves, but are skeptical otherwise

  • Business leaders and policymakers have an opportunity in consumers and voters who reject zero-sum thinking and seek technological solutions to animal health and welfare challenges

If you’d like to learn more about these themes, and how they can help you make informed policy or business decisions, you can access the full report, for free, here.
